A little natural history
A powerful, heavy-bodied frog adapted to seasonal rainfall. Wild animals can shelter underground during drought, then emerge to feed and reproduce when temporary waters return.
The wonderfully odd bit
Males guard tadpoles, although they can also eat some of the young.
Would this frog suit a home?
Plan for a large, strong adult, safe cleaning and substantial burrowing space. Keep separately from animals it could swallow; size makes this a serious commitment.
Only consider legally obtained, captive-bred animals. Check permits and restrictions where you live, test the habitat first, and arrange an amphibian-experienced vet. This brief profile is not a complete husbandry sheet.
